(PLTM) - The Department of Disaster Management has issued an interim list of the facilities that can be used as emergency shelters for residents of the BVI as the hurricane season starts, on Friday, June 8.

Director, Sharleen DaBreo said that the department wanted to ensure that they were in a position to provide the proper assessment of the facilities that can be used as emergency shelters.

The public is reminded that the facilities listed are emergency shelters that can be used for any hazard impact and not only cyclonic events (hurricane and storms).

It was explained that works are ongoing at other facilities not listed in the interim schedule.

The emergency shelter list will be updated and published again for the peak of the hurricane season.
