(PLTM) - Young philanthropist, 13-year-old Ms. Ariel Mohamed has so far managed to raise close to $8,000 in her fundraising efforts to aid the Family Support Network (FSN).

This was divulged yesterday, December 10, during a simple handing over ceremony when NAGICO Insurances donated an iPhone Xs Max, valued at $1,600, to Ms. Mohamed as the grand prize of the ongoing fundraising raffle that she is spearheading.

Speaking to the media, young Ms. Mohamed, who has been actively involved in several such initiatives in the past, said that she took on the challenge of raising funds with a target of $7,500, as her way of giving back to the community.

“I chose Family Support Network (FSN) because over the past few years I have been volunteering for them and helping them whenever I can. This year, I decided to do a raffle because December is when they are most in need and they do so much for our community and I wanted to give back,” she shared.

She urged members of the public to come forward and support the effort by participating in the raffle. The grand drawing will occur this Saturday, December 15, and among the other prizes up for grabs are lunch, dinner and salon gift vouchers, along with other consolation prizes.

Ms. Mohamed voiced her appreciation to the community for playing a major role in the effort by supporting the raffle, as well as to sponsors such as Flow, NAGICO, Klass Electronics.

"We will be purchasing the supplies and then handing them over to the Family Support Network,” she disclosed, while encouraging persons to get involved in helping FSN in any way possible.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of NAGICO, and Ariel’s father, Mr. Shan Mohamed said that the raffle is “an important project. It is also something the NAGICO embodies over the years.”

He added that in undertaking the initiative, his daughter was able to improve her organizational skills.

“When she said she wanted to do this project, I thought I have an opportunity to also help her to understand the importance of doing projects in a certain manner, the organizational skills it takes, the coordination and the effort.”
