(PLTM) - Three persons are now facing serious offences for assisting Khori Prince, who is now on remand at HM Prison charged with the Mi Amor burglary and two counts of escaping police custody.

Brother of Prince, Deshon Benjamin, 22, was charged with harbouring a fugitive and handling stolen goods, while mother Allina Sprauve, 50, of Cane Garden Bay, and girlfriend of Prince, a 17-year-old female, were both charged with assisting an offender.

Benjamin was placed on remand while Sprauve and the 17-year-old were granted bail. All four are scheduled to appear before Magistrate’s Court on February 18.

Commissioner of Police, Mr Michael Matthews reiterated the challenges in creating a safe environment with the unwillingness of seemingly law abiding persons to abide by the law, and to do the right thing and cooperate with Police.

“We have a family before the court, a mother, brother and girlfriend, in different households, charged with harbouring and assisting an escaped prisoner, risking arrest and prosecution for their actions," he said.

He added, "this is a clear indication of the battle my officers are up against in keeping our communities crime-free and removing criminals from our streets. If found guilty, their mistake will be a costly one."
