Dead Dinghy Captain Identified As Branson Read

(PLTM) - Police have identified the man that died as a result of what is suspected to be a boat accident in Frenchman’s Cay as 32-year-old Branson Read of Sopher’s Hole.

Police Communications Officer, Diane Drayton disclosed that prior to being pulled from the waters at Sopher’s Hole, the man left Willy T’s where he worked and was travelling in a dinghy to Sopher’s Hole Marina, where his boat was anchored.

“Shouts for help alerted persons on shore, who, along with West End Police Officers, rescued Read from the water and transported him to Sophers Hole Marina. The dinghy, identified as belonging to Read, was still in motion and circling the marina when police arrived at the scene,” Ms. Drayton explained.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and was found with injuries to his head.

Investigation into his death continue.

(PLTM) - Previous Update: Police Investigating Death In West End

The Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man in Frenchman's Cay in the wee hours of this morning, April 25.

This was disclosed by Police Communication Officer, Ms. Diane Drayton, who said, "Police can confirm the death of one male following an apparent boating accident in the West End area during the early morning hours. Investigations are ongoing."

The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly discovered in the water in proximity of an unmanned vessel which he was believed to be travelling in.

One person has died as a result of a boat accident last night, April 24.

According to information received from credible sources, the accident occurred in Frenchman's Cay.
