(PLTM) - Greeted by officials of the BVI Tourist Board and local promoters, Trinidadian soca singer, Patrice Roberts arrived in the Territory for the Soca Wee show, which is planned for the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park tomorrow, June 14.

Known as one the "First Ladies of Soca", Patrice has produced such hits as ‘Like It Like This’, ‘A Little Wine’, ‘Big Girl Now’ and ‘Old and Grey’, among others.

Promoter Craig Lake indicated that they pulled out all the stops to have Patrice on island early, as there were some doubts among soca lovers as the songstress had missed a few shows in the Caribbean.

Lake stated that Patrice is not only going to be performing on Friday, but will be making several visits during the day.

The show is also carded to feature Adam O, who produced the song ‘Sexy Dance’, which has created waves throughout the Virgin Islands and is now spreading to other Caribbean islands.

The show will also feature the edgy VI soca singer Rudy Live, who continues to carve out a place in the congested regional soca market.

The Soca Wee show is taking place at a time when there is expected to be over 8,000 visitors to the Territory this weekend for reggae sensation Buju Banton’s Long Walk to Freedom concert, which will take place on Saturday evening.

Promoter Craig Lake explained that the soca event is a great prelude to the Buju show, which is expected to be a more mellow type atmosphere.

Unlike previous shows held at the Pier Park, Soca Wee starts at 6:30 p.m. making it a great after-work affair.

The show is being sponsored by NAGICO Insurance, Caribbean Cellars, BVI Tourist Board, Creative Arts and Maria’s By The Sea, among others.
