Update: Four Charged In Cocaine Seizure On VG

(PLTM) - The Police Information Office has confirmed that four males have been charged in relation to the seizure of a significant amount of cocaine on Virgin Gorda.

BVIslanders Nickel Simon, 25 and Cryton Browne, 36 have been jointly charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply, Engagement in Smuggling a Controlled Drug and Human Trafficking.

Venezuelan nationals WIlteredo Lopez Vargas, 40 and Hover Morillo Ybarbia, 47 have been jointly charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply, Engagement in Smuggling a Controlled Drug and Illegal Entry Without Leave from an Immigration Officer.

They remain in police custody pending their appearance in the Magistrate’s Court.

The Police Information Office has reported that on Sunday, October 27, a large quantity of cocaine was seized by the RVIPF.

The seizure was a result of a a joint operation between The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and The United States Virgin Islands Authorities. During that operation, four males were arrested in Virgin Gorda.

According to Police, inquiries are ongoing in this matter and persons with information relating to this or any other crime are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department through the access number 311. Persons can also call the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

Police noted that all information will be treated with discretion and confidentiality will be assured.

Just over a week ago, during a separate joint operation between the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and Her Majesty’s Customs, a vessel was searched shortly after its arrival in Virgin Gorda. As a result, a large quantity of cocaine was discovered and seized by the RVIPF.

No arrests have been made as yet and inquiries are ongoing in this matter.
