(PLTM) - The death of Carrot Bay resident, Andrew Skerritt, who succumbed to injuries sustained from a single gunshot wound, is to this day, inconclusive along with three other recent deaths in the territory, the Royal Virgin Islands Police (RVIPF) has said.

Via a press release issued today, the RVIPF said the final determination into the four deaths will be made by the Coroner.

The release added that autopsy reports and full inquiries into the cause of death “have not revealed any evidence that another person had been physically involved in bringing about the individuals’ demise.”

In cases like that, Detective Inspector Vernon Larocque explained that when the investigations are completed, “a file is submitted to the Coroner’s Office who will make the final determination.”

He added, “The Coroner will direct any further actions in these cases in order to be satisfied that no other person participated in bringing about the deaths of these individuals. However, any new evidence which may surface will be treated with urgency and resolve.”

Skerritt was found in his Carrot Bay home unresponsive from a gunshot wound on February 5 this year.

Notably, it was the same day that well-known businessman Rodney ‘Mileage’ Simmons was fatally shot in his Threadfall home.

It was widely speculated that the two deaths were related and that the death of Skerritt was a suicide.

In the meantime, the Police said, the deaths of three others are also inconclusive at this time.

The release informed that the cases are that of Franklyn Malone, Waleid Kachhour and Ryan Smolderen.

“Malone body was found in the waters off Fat Hogs Bay in November of last year. The body of Kachhour was found in the waters near the Valerie Thomas Community Centre in Sea Cows Bay in late February 2021 with his hands and feet loosely tied, and the body of Smolderen was found in the waters near Village Cay at the end of April,” it added.
