(PLTM) - The BVI Rugby squad performed well at the recent games held in Turks and Caicos.

The team returned home on October 18 from the Fireminds Rugby Americas North Sevens after hard matches against regional leaders.

Coach James Vaughn-Turner said it was an amazing experience and an honor to get to play against several top nations.

“Our number 6 finish is a best ranking ever for BVI. We look forward to going to our next 7s in Mexico in February 2022. Training commences this week,” he said.

In an interview following day one victory of the BVI Sevens Team, Vaughan-Turner explained that the level of play was the result of 10 weeks of hard work.

He commented that this was also the first time many of the team members were playing competitive rugby on an international stage.

“We’ve been through Hurricane Irma and COVID-19, and it required hard work over the last 5 years to get the team to where we are now. Our aim was to get to the Cup competition stage, and we did that,” the coach stated.
