(PLTM) - The Director of the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) Mr. Clive McCoy believes that the just concluded Lobster Festival held from November 26 to 28, has placed the territory back on the map once more.

This event is the biggest event of the BVI Food Fete calendar spearheaded by the BVITB and was patronized by several hundred patrons from the territory as well as visitors.

It provided all with the opportunity to sample various culinary offerings derived from the Lobster as well as other types of food for non-lobster lovers.

“I am totally happy that we had the 2021 Lobster Fest. Now we are back on the map again. It certainly injected some much-needed revenue into Anegada so I am really happy for the people of Anegada,” McCoy told BVI Platinum News on Sunday, November 28.

He said he was pleased that there were no hiccups and the Police, Customs and other law enforcement agencies came out in their numbers to work alongside the BVITB.

Meanwhile, Junior Minister for Trade and Economic Development Hon. Shereen Flax-Charles who also performed with It’s a Secret Band had some good reviews of the event.

“It was fantastic. All of the venues that I was at before I started to perform that is, was fantastic. Where we were at the Big Bamboo, it was a great crowd, people appreciated it and on a whole everybody was so happy to be here its like it's almost normal.”

She added, “I mean tourism is back! We are back we just have to make sure to follow the protocols and ensure that everybody is safe that’s the important thing.”

Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Hon. Vincent Wheatley said he too was impressed by this year’s event.

“I must say since I came here today I was very impressed with what I saw. When you look at the demographics of persons who visited I think the number of visitors was 30 to 1. This is a good BVI festival. Most of the folks that I saw today I saw at several places so they were moving around and for the most part, persons were following the health protocols,” he said.

He continued, “There are no real big groups anywhere, folks are adhering to the protocols, it's lively, persons are having a really good time. The support has been fantastic and I think all the businesses be it the rooms or rentals, the bicycles, cycles, horseback riding, the trips to the conch shell mounts all were very well supported.”

In addition to the lively aura on Anegada, the ferries also provided live DJ entertainment for patrons, providing a festive mood to and from the island.
