(PLTM) - As residents continue to raise concerns over the processes of banks operating in the BVI, Premier and Finance Minister Hon. Andrew Fahie plans to meet with banking officials.

“I would also like to say I will also be having meetings with the banks again in the territory to get an update on the progress of different areas where we see that they can work in tandem with the government to help,” Premier Fahie recently said.

Residents have been up-in-arms over several issues pertaining to banks, including timely service. Yesterday Friday December 3, a senior citizen collapsed as he stood in a long line outside CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank in Road Town.

Meanwhile, Premier Fahie said he was also assured that the issues affecting customers of Banco Popular on Virgin Gorda will be addressed.

“…[The] matter of Banco Popular in Virgin Gorda in terms of the hours and we are pleased to report that Banco Popular is moving with haste to have this matter rectified and as it should be rectified in the next two weeks at the most, if not before,” he pointed out at the time.

Premier Fahie said: “so I want to thank Banco Popular for their hard work and that is what has been reported to me, so we can look forward to the bank in Virgin Gorda being extended, to alleviate some of the stress of the people of the Virgin Islands during these trying times of COVID-19 and also other areas to help our sister islands.”
