The Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund (VICCTF) will formally open its first-ever call for proposals and applications today, September 3, offering funding for climate-related community resilience and capacity-building initiatives.
According to VICCTF, eligible and interested partners, including community groups, civil society organisations, private-sector entities and other registered organisations across the Virgin Islands, are being invited to apply.
The Community Resilience Grant, CFP-1, is intended for partners ready to implement climate adaptation and mitigation projects. The Capacity-Building Grant, CFA-1, is available to organisations requiring support to strengthen their internal capacity or operations before undertaking projects.
Some entities may be eligible to pursue both funding pathways.
Chief Executive Officer of the VICCTF Chamberlain Emmanuel said the programmes were shaped by consultations held across the Territory in July.
“The consultations we held across the Territory in July made one thing clear, organisations want a fair, transparent shot at this funding, and they want us to meet them where they are,” Emmanuel stated.
He explained that entities must first register as partners and have their readiness assessed to determine the most suitable grant pathway.
“That feedback shaped how we built CFP-1 and CFA-1. So whether your organisation is ready to launch a project tomorrow or still finding its footing, there’s a pathway here for you,” Emmanuel said.
“I’d encourage every eligible group across the Territory to take the first step by registering as a partner.”
Before applying, organisations are encouraged to register through the Trust’s Partnership Alliance Registration by visiting www.vicctf.org. Registration will place entities within the Trust’s network and help determine which funding option best matches their current capacity.
The funding call will be formally opened during a press conference today.
A virtual workshop will be held on September 7 to guide potential applicants through the application process, eligibility requirements, important dates and other necessary steps.
The Trust will also hold weekly virtual question-and-answer sessions, along with in-person drop-in sessions on Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada for those seeking face-to-face assistance.
A schedule will be released within the coming days. Interested persons are also encouraged to follow the Trust’s social media pages for updated information.
