Two legendary Virgin Islands bands, The Bad Ones and Latitude Stars, are set to reunite for a special Saturday edition of Carrot Bay Cultural Thursdays on May 23, promising an evening of music, nostalgia and culture, according to the Government Information Service.
The Bad Ones, formed in East End during the late 1960s and early 1970s, became one of the Territory’s most recognised entertainment groups, performing hits from iconic acts including The Beatles, The Jackson 5 and The Rolling Stones. The band was also among the early local groups to introduce reggae into its performances.
Meanwhile, Latitude Stars, a staple of Virgin Gorda’s entertainment scene, will revive memories of the island’s “Musical City” era with performances spanning rhythm and blues, reggae, soca, ballads and dance favourites.
The event will also feature cultural foods and drinks, a fresh market opening at 3 p.m., and traditional races and games hosted by Shadow from 4 p.m.
The Bad Ones are scheduled to perform at 5:30 p.m., followed by Latitude Stars at 6:30 p.m.
According to the Government release, transportation will be available for Virgin Gorda residents attending the event, with reservations required. Persons are encouraged to call 441-9100 or 541-0234 to book their space on the bus.
