(PLTM) - Officers of the Virgin Gorda (VG) Police Station are in active pursuit of the lone gunman who forced his way into the office of a construction firm on Friday afternoon, in his attempt to make off with monies used to pay construction workers.

According to police report, inquiries suggest that the assailant came expecting funds made available by the contractor to be on the site, located on Towers Road in the Valley. However, those funds had not arrived by that time.

The gunman fled the premises with personal funds from one member of staff and a construction worker.

The suspect is described as dark in complexion and approximately 6’. At the time, he was wearing all black with a mask on his face.

Persons with information into the identity of this suspect are asked to contact the Virgin Gorda Police Station directly or call the RVIPF access number 311. Persons can also call the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339. All information will be held in the strictest confidence.

Police continue to encourage businesses to use cheques or direct bank deposits rather than cash to pay workers at work sites. When large amounts of cash must be transported or held at a location, persons are asked to seek the advice or assistance of police.
