(PLTM) - Premier, Hon. Andrew Fahie has received three death threats since taking office, and as such, he has had to contract bodyguards for his personal security.

He made this disclosure earlier today, April 25, during the sitting of the House of Assembly, revealing that the matter is before the Commissioner of Police.

"Since becoming Premier, it is now documented through authorities that I have received three major death threats of assassination," he disclosed.

As a result, the Premier explained that security arrangements had to be made, which is being funded through budget allocations.

"We have sat down with the Commissioner of Police, we've sat down with private security and we have made sure that the security that is needed, that I will have as the Premier of this Territory. I don't like it. I don't like to know that taxpayers have to go through...," he added.

The Premier further disclosed that they are in possession of information as to the author of these assassination threats, saying, "Now because of some greedy people, that's what they are. We have a tip on what it's about. We have some greedy people want to see if they could assassinate the Premier."

He issued a warning to these persons, who he said are not displeased citizens in the street, but "greedy persons in high place", saying that he will not be intimidated.

"I want to tell those three entities here today, that you ain't gon frighten me. You're not going to frighten me from doing the business of the people," he declared.

Hon. Fahie further reiterated, "I want those who have the plans to continue to pilferage the public's money and waste it, and had deals set up...that I will not be intimidated by you. You will not frighten me."

Shoot To Kill

The Premier disclosed that his security detail has been briefed to eliminate all threats by any means necessary, should they arise.

"Yes, we have security. When the threat came to me first, I didn't take it on...I said nonsense," he stated, adding, "I gon get them around me because if they attempt, I tell them shoot and kill them...cause this is no joke. So yes, the Premier has bodyguards, not that he wants them. The security for the Premier is in the budget."

This change, he noted however, has not been easy on him.

"I had to rearrange how my life has been going and it has not been a nice time....I used to be around this place free as a bird," he stressed.

"I don't like having bodyguards. It's a change for me," he continued, emphasising that he will get as many security guards as necessary.

The Premier expressed that he is hoping that they can tackle the threats in a timely manner so that he will not need the bodyguards for an extended period.
