Another COVID-19 Related Death As Active Cases Climb To Over 820

(PLTM) - The British Virgin Islands active, positive cases continue to see a steady climb, with 821 cases as of today, July 8 and another person reportedly died in relation.

This is according to the latest update from the government.

The update said, of that figure, 15 cases are on boats, 782 are on Tortola, two cases on Anegada, seven on Jost Van Dyke, and 15 are on Virgin Gorda. An analysis of the active cases indicates that 14 were caught through the entry screening, 11 on the day four screening, 104 through travel screening, and the majority of cases, 548, through contacts.

There are 124 local cases and four crew members.

Eight persons are currently receiving medical care at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital in Road Town, Tortola.

There are now two persons who have succumbed following contact with the deadly virus.
