(PLTM) - Repairs will soon commence on the hurricane-destroyed, Anegada Recreational Ground perimeter fencing.
A contract, valued at $83,491.95 was signed recently between the Government of the Virgin Islands through the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) and Sunleaf Construction for the said works.
The construction firm emerged as the successful tenderer from a pool of seven who submitted bids for the project.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, July 20, the repairs will be aimed at preventing further deterioration and protecting any future investment.
“This project is very significant to the people of Anegada as it continues to enhance the sporting facilities and provide a safe recreation space… It is a pleasure to work with Sunleaf Construction who was successful in the RDA’s competitive bidding process,” Acting Chief Executive Officer of the RDA, Mr. Anthony McMaster, stated.
Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Hon. Natalio Wheatley, who also commented on the undertaking, said he was elated to see that progress on the territory’s recovery following the devastating 2017 hurricane continues.
Unite BVI provided the funding source for the project.
