(PLTM) - Government continues to pump money into the rehabilitation of the Ralph T. O'Neal Administration Complex (RTOAC) in Road Town, Tortola.
A post-Cabinet meeting statement issued on Thursday, July 22, said already, the demolition works coupled with the disposal of the waste material from the complex’s west wing came at a cost of $107,185.39.
From that amount, roughly $51,023.50 worth of demolition works on the same wing is remaining; and, upon completion, would bring the total sum for the west wing demo works to the tune of $158,208.89.
For the demolition of the east wing, the estimated cost is in the region of $195,036.44, the Cabinet statement informed.
Other Demolition Works
Furthermore, cabinet decided that the outstanding demolition works of office spaces, corridors and ceilings in the RTOAC, excluding the basement, would not exceed the sum of $246,059.94 through the use of petty contracts and work orders only.
For the basement, government recently announced that interested persons could bid on the project.
Procurement Coordinator, Mrs. Ishma Rhymer, said the proposed works include furnishing all plant, labour, equipment, and materials and performing all operations in connection with providing engineering designs and drawings of retaining walls; providing finishes to the new basement parking inclusive of lighting and line marking and replacing exit doors to the maintenance area of the basement on the East Atrium, a release said.
The scope of works also includes but is not limited to constructing a new drainage system to support the West Atrium basement parking, rerouting incoming main water supply to the Administration Complex and allow for road reinstatement, as well as supplying and installing garage doors, the release added.
The complex, like many buildings in the territory sustained some damage during the 2017 hurricanes.
