Positive COVID-19 Cases Attended Two Recent Mass Gatherings

(PLTM) - One week following two large events, the Ministry of Health and Social Development has confirmed that persons who tested positive for COVID-19 attended the events.

In a bulletin issued today Monday November 22, the two events named were Fish Fete on Saturday, 13th November, 2021 held on the Festival Grounds and Phi Theta Kappa Honour Society Induction Ceremony on Monday, 15th November, 2021 at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

The Ministry is asking all persons that attended the Fish Fete and the Phi Theta Kappa Ceremony to monitor themselves for symptoms for the next seven days and strictly adhere to all the Public Health Protocols of proper mask wearing, social distancing and hand hygiene.

"If you attended any of these events or have been in contact with someone who attended either of these events and are currently experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, then you should immediately self-isolate and call the Public Health Unit to schedule your test," it stated.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include (but are not limited to, Dry cough, Tiredness, Runny nose, Loss of taste or smell, Muscle or joint pain, Sore throat, Headache, Aches and pains, Diarrhea, and a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes.

Individuals can contact the Public Health Unit at 468-4936 or email phu@gov.vg with your name, date of birth, and the symptoms you are experiencing to schedule testing.

The last available figure for positive COVID-19 cases in the Territory was 21.
