(PLTM) - Former Deputy Premier and At-Large Candidate, Dr. Kedrick Pickering has provided insight into his return to the National Democratic Party (NDP) following the public split ahead of the 2019 elections.
The former Seventh District Representative appeared on the same platform with Independent Candidate Perline Scatliffe-Leonard this week.
“I had to admit to myself I wasn’t doing something that wasn’t right...and I took up the phone and I called Hon. Myron Walwyn and I spoke to him and I say ‘what I had to tell him and I say we need to work together,” Dr. Pickering stated.
He added, “It wasn’t him who called me. I called him because I was the one carrying around unforgiveness in my heart and I want to live a life of faith and do what is right and what that is, the country is bigger than all of us.”
Dr. Pickering noted that family break up and fall apart, but it was decided that they sit down and have a conversation on getting back together because the country needs the NDP.
He stated that there are those who have questioned his return to the NDP based on his indication that he will not work with certain people again in politics.
According to Dr. Pickering, he was thinking about what was happening in the country and the NDP asked him to reconsider rejoining the family.
“I said let me pray about this thing and see what happens. I think I have tried to live out my fate …I heard a voice said to me, ‘you cannot claim to be a Christian and believe in God in one hand, and you are carrying around unforgiveness in the other hand’. It cannot work,” Dr. Pickering stated.

Doc, it is great that you sought God's divine intervention on your own behalf and asked for forgiveness. However, you should have also told Myron to seek the same soul searching avenue and seek God's forgiveness for what he did you in the first place to cause the fraction in your party. To add insult to injury, he is now offering himself for public service in the next house of assembly. In any other democratic society in this world, any aspiring politician or sitting politician with any kind of MORAL fortitude and integrity would not offer themselves for public service with a case pending in the courts.
Yes, we get the legality that Myron is innocent until proven guilty and he can run, however let us be clear with the optics and potential damage to the BVI. Suppose he is successful in his bid for elections and then the case is called and he is found guilty, then the UK have all the evidence they need to support the suspension of the constitution due to corruption within high office.
Conclusion, Myron put himself above the country and Doc Pick endorse and support this egotistical behavior. Let us do the right and honorable thing and reject this morally flawed odd couple at the poll.
Country over self!
