(PLTM) - The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) wants the people of the BVI to forget what happened on April 28, 2022 when their leader and former Premier Andrew A. Fahie was arrested in the U.S.

This is according to National Democratic Party (NDP) At-Large candidate Allen O'Neal, who said that April 24 election is a referendum on the corrupt VIP. Speaking at the NDP's launch of its nine candidates at the Sir Olva Georges Plaza over the weekend, O'Neal labelled the entire VIP as corrupt.

"Make no mistake about this election. This election is a referendum on the corrupt VIP and the corrupt Premier, but they don’t want us to talk about the elephant in the room. I am here to talk about the elephant in the room. Don’t ask me to pray for corruption and for the plans of the devil. We see the green flags are out with the Senegal or whatever," he said.

O'Neal, who served as the first Director of Tourism in 1975, said that it's hurtful to know that the VIP squander $60M.

"How could we let a government misspend $60M. The Great United States of America that have [lots of] dollars, for their COVID relief and stimulus they give each family, they did it by a very fair way, they did it by social security number. They didn’t care who you voted for, each adult got $1,200 and each child qualified got $500," he outlined.

O'Neal, cousin of the late Premier Ralph T. O'Neal added, "We on the other hand, give hundreds of thousands of dollars to single individuals while others got nothing...I know many of you in the audience you did not get anything from all the big money that was being sent out."

He mentioned the many areas the VIP failed to fix.

"They want us to forget that they did nothing with the East End/Long Look sewer situation. All of a sudden, something is going to be done, according to the vow of our accidental Premier [Natalio Wheatley]. I call him an accidental Premier because his boss was out on an excursion in Miami and...he had an accident, hence the accidental Premier."

He said the VIP is hopeless.

"This government that is going to come to you know to talk to you about give them four more years, is a government of closure…in North Sound every public building has been closed; the Port of Entry-closed, out for business; the clinic in North Sound is closed, nobody there. And our Representative one day, his daughter was trying to attend to individuals outside the building."

O'Neal added, "A Post Office-a mini administration building, closed-no business; when you do that you take people hope away, especially the elderly, where would they get their blood pressure check etc."
