BVI Stands With Guyana Following Deadly Dorm Fire

(PLTM) - The Government of the Virgin Islands has expressed condolences to Guyana in wake of a deadly fire which destroyed the girls dormitory and claimed the lives of 19 children in the remote town of Mahdia.

Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon. Sharie de Castro said she was deeply sadded by the news of teh fire.

Below are Hon. de Castro's full remarks

As the Minister for Education, I am deeply saddened by the news of the recent fire in Guyana that claimed the lives of 19 students. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragedy. We offer our condolences and stand in solidarity with the people of Guyana during this difficult time.

We urge all school authorities to take necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their students, and we will continue to work with our international partners to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
