(PLTM) - The government has granted the BVI Tourist Board (TB) $250,000 to hold a Non-Stop concert at Brandywine Bay to celebrate the first commercial direct flight for American Airlines between Miami and the BVI at the TB Lettsome International Airport.

Premier Hon. Dr. Natalio Wheatley made this announcement moments ago during a press conference. He said the event will take place on June 30 from 6PM and will feature International artiste Konshens, Monea, VIBE, Rock City and other local artistes.

Premier Wheatley said that he knows a lot of persons are going through a stressful time and this entertainment will help, noting that the concert is also part of government's push for entertainment tourism.

The Premier who did not speak to the budget of the concert, said what he knows is that government provided a grant of $250,000.

However, when responding to questions on whether this means that the country is not broke, Hon. Wheatley said: "These events are expensive…if you want to make money, you have to spend…they cost money and if you want to be in the game you have to spend the money."

He added, "If persons are concerned about a little $250,000 wait until I get going…I want to have big artistes, international, regional artistes...We are not broke, but if we want to build the country, we have to spend to build our economy and tourism industry."
