Help Needed To Locate Illegal Migrants

(PLTM) - GIS - The Department of Immigration is asking the public to remain vigilant both on land and at sea for any suspicious persons or activity as they seek to locate illegal migrants reported to be in the Territory.

On Thursday 25 April, the Department of Immigration received a tip of suspected illegal migrant activity on Peter Island. The department then sought the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, HM Customs and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), which activated the Joint Task Force. Two Indian national migrants have since been located and it is suspected that at least ten other migrants of varying nationalities remain on the island.

The officers of the Joint Task Force continue to search the island and other locations for the remaining migrants. Anyone with relevant information should contact the Department of Immigration at 468-4705, 468-4717, 468-4754 or the RVIPF at 311.

it is hard to know that there are humans on an island and the law enforcers cant locate them. we need to take into consideration that these people are not here because they want to, they were dropped here unlawfully and we should treat them like humans. they may need food and water and medicine. officers of the rvipf, customs and immigration needs to go back to the island where the people were dropped and search the bushes.
