Works have commenced on the Hannah Hill reservoir as the Government moves to address persistent water supply challenges affecting communities across the Virgin Islands.
Florida Aqua Store began the repairs on August 7, with the project expected to take approximately four weeks.
Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Kye Rymer visited the site alongside Third District Representative Hon. Julian Fraser as the work got underway.
“It took us some time, but we are finally here,” Rymer said.
The Minister explained that a bypass has been installed to keep water flowing through the network during the repairs. However, residents at higher elevations may continue to experience supply challenges.
Rymer said the repairs should restore some normalcy to the community’s water service and assured residents that regular updates would be provided.
Florida Aqua Store was contracted for approximately $1.97 million to rehabilitate five critical reservoirs. Following Hannah Hill, works are expected at Fort Hill, Sabbath Hill, Minton Hill on Virgin Gorda and Balsam Ghut. BVI Platinum News previously reported that Hannah Hill was identified as the first priority under the programme.
