The next generation of softball players got their opportunity to shine as the Inter-Primary Softball Championship was officially launched on Thursday June 18.
According to the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, the tournament represents a significant investment in youth and sports development and aims to create opportunities for young athletes to develop their talents through competitive play.
Officials noted that softball has long served as a pathway for Virgin Islands athletes, with many former players advancing to collegiate and professional careers.
The championship was launched with support from the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Virgin Islands Softball-Baseball Association, umpires and physical education teachers, who worked to prepare teams and provide equipment to participating schools.
The ministry said the competition is expected to inspire a new generation of athletes while strengthening the development of softball across the Territory.
