PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos - interCaribbean Airways proudly marks a decade of continuous service to the British Virgin Islands, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to connecting the territory with the wider Caribbean region. Since launching operations to Beef Island (Tortola) on December 9, 2015, the airline has maintained consistent service through economic challenges, natural disasters, and industry shifts.

The milestone comes at a significant moment for BVI connectivity. With Caribbean Airlines' recent announcement to suspend its Tortola route effective January 10, 2026, interCaribbean Airways stands as a steadfast partner in ensuring the territory remains connected to essential markets throughout the region.

"Ten years ago, we made a commitment to the British Virgin Islands and its people - a commitment we've honored every day since," said Lyndon Gardiner, Chairman of interCaribbean Airways. "While the industry landscape continues to evolve and other carriers have exited, our position is clear – “we're here to stay”. For almost 34 years, interCaribbean Airways has built our reputation on dedication to Caribbean connectivity, and the BVI is an important part of that mission."

Over the past decade, interCaribbean Airways has carried hundreds of thousands of customers between the BVI and destinations including Antigua, Dominica, San Juan, Santo Domingo and Sint Maarten, and points beyond, facilitating business travel, family connections, and tourism growth. The airline weathered significant challenges alongside the Territory, including the devastating impact of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, and remained committed to the market when others withdrew.

“Tortola (EIS), in The British Virgin Islands, is an important part of our Caribbean destinations as we continue to build further on this decade-long relationship” said Trevor Sadler, CEO of interCaribbean Airways. "Our customers seek our services for connectivity to Tortola and well beyond, whether for a business meeting in San Juan, a family visit to Antigua, or a weekend getaway.
