The National Democratic Party (NDP)has ratified Aaron F. Parillon and Perline Scatliffe-Leonard as candidates for the 2027 General Election, adding two more names to its developing electoral slate.
The decisions were taken during the party’s National Executive Meeting on July 9 and announced in a statement.
Parillon will contest the Third Electoral District, setting up another possible clash with veteran incumbent, Hon. Julian Fraser while Scatliffe-Leonard will represent the NDP in the Seventh Electoral District where she be seeking to unseat the current Premier and Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairman, Dr. Natalio Wheatley.
NDP Chairman and Opposition Leader Marlon Penn said the two candidates bring experience, integrity and a commitment to public service as the party prepares to challenge for the government.
“Every candidate we ratify strengthens our readiness to serve as the next Government of the Virgin Islands,” Penn said.
He added that the NDP is building a united team focused on strengthening the economy, improving public services, restoring confidence in government and delivering better results for residents.
“The momentum behind the National Democratic Party continues to strengthen because people are looking for leadership that listens, leads and delivers,” Penn stated.
Parillon said he was honoured by the confidence placed in him and intends to offer practical and responsive leadership to the residents of District Three.
“District Three is home to hardworking people who deserve strong, responsive leadership and real progress,” Parillon said.
He identified stronger communities, opportunities for young people, support for local businesses and improvements to residents’ quality of life among his priorities.
Parillon also pointed to the vision of the late H. Lavity Stoutt, particularly his emphasis on educating and preparing Virgin Islanders to assume leadership roles.
“By investing in education and empowering our people, we can build a stronger, more prosperous future for the Virgin Islands,” he said.
Scatliffe-Leonard, who brings more than 40 years of advocacy and community service, said she is prepared to represent District Seven with dedication and purpose.
“District Seven deserves leadership grounded in experience, accountability, compassion and a determination to deliver results,” she said.
Scatliffe-Leonard said she was proud to join an NDP team committed to strengthening communities, improving people’s lives and building a brighter future for the Territory.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to working alongside my colleagues and the people of District Seven as we move our Territory forward together,” she added.
The party said residents of the Third and Seventh Districts will have opportunities to meet both candidates during upcoming community engagements and events.
The NDP is expected to announce additional candidates in the coming weeks and months as it works to complete its slate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
