Public officers will receive their outstanding 2022 increments by November 15, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. Natalio Wheatley announced during his 2027 Budget Address today October 27.
The pledge sets a deadline ahead of Christmas for payments that have remained overdue for years.
“This long-overdue recognition of our officers’ hard work and dedication honours our commitment to them,” the Premier said.
Outstanding increments have been a longstanding concern for public servants. Although partial payments have been made in the past, officers have complained about the financial strain caused by delayed earnings and the uncertainty surrounding when arrears would be settled.
Wheatley also highlighted increased pensions for retired public officers, describing the adjustment as the first in 25 years.
He said retirees received the increases on August 31, 2026, followed by arrears on September 30.
“We committed approximately $6.7 million, established twice-monthly payments and instituted a three-year review cycle,” he stated.
“Our retirees should never wait another quarter-century to be remembered.”
