The Virgin Islands Tourism Summit 2026 will bring together tourism stakeholders, industry leaders, investors and policymakers on June 10 and 11 to discuss the future direction of the territory's tourism industry.

According to a Government Information Services (GIS) press release, the summit will be held at Peter Island Resort under the theme, “Shaping the Future of Tourism in the Virgin Islands: Partnership, Investment & Direction.”

The event is being hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development in partnership with the BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission and the British Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association.

Permanent Secretary Joseph Smith-Abbott said the summit is designed to strengthen collaboration across the tourism sector and promote a shared vision for sustainable growth and resilience.

“The summit represents a collaborative effort between Government and industry and reflects a shared commitment to advancing the Virgin Islands as a premier tourism destination,” Smith-Abbott said.

The event will feature regional and international tourism leaders, including Caribbean Tourism Organization Deputy Director for Sustainable Tourism Narendra Ramgulam, Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association President Adam Ceserano, Sojern Tourism Director Bonnie Borkin Sr., and Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association CEO Vanessa Ledesma.

Day one will focus on sustainable tourism, resilience, recovery and a National Tourism Policy Validation and Stakeholder Alignment Forum. A special session will examine lessons learned from Hurricanes Irma and Maria and strategies for strengthening tourism resilience.

A key feature of the second day will be the launch of BVI Market Connect: Partner Exchange, a networking platform linking local tourism businesses with the BVI Tourist Board's global sales, marketing and public relations representatives.

Discussions will also explore entertainment tourism and how culture, events and visitor experiences can be leveraged to boost visitor spending and create year-round opportunities.

GIS said complimentary ferry transportation will be provided to registered participants travelling to Peter Island Resort.
