Businessman and Third District candidate Julian Willock has donated $3,000 to three schools under a new initiative aimed at ensuring no student in the district attends school hungry.

According to a press release, Willock and his Third District Committee launched the “No Student in District 3 Should Go to School Hungry” initiative after learning that some students were arriving at school without breakfast or lunch, affecting their ability to learn.

On Monday, 14 September, Willock donated $1,000 each to Ebenezer Thomas Primary School, the BVI Seventh-day Adventist School and St. George’s Secondary School. The funds will assist students from September to December 2026.

An additional $3,000 will be divided among the three schools for the January to June 2027 school term.

“As long as I am around, no child should be going to any school in District 3 hungry,” said Willock, a former Speaker of the House of Assembly.

The funds will be managed by the principals to protect students’ privacy. Parents requiring assistance should contact the principal of their child’s school directly.

Willock said assistance will be provided regardless of whether a student’s parents live in District Three, once the child attends one of the three schools.

The committee plans to streamline the programme, with further announcements expected next year.

Willock thanked Biras Creek Resort, Caribbean Insurance, Tortola Auto Group, O’Reilly Consulting & Associates, North Sound Enterprise Limited and Caribbean Cooling BVI for supporting the initiative.
