Royal Knights produced another commanding performance to clinch the British Virgin Islands Cricket Association (BVICA) T20 Championship after defeating Grenada CC by six wickets in an entertaining final at Greenland on Sunday.

Grenada CC, after winning the toss and batting first, posted a total of 210 all out in 18.2 overs behind a destructive innings from Derrol Redhead, who blasted 79 from just 26 balls with eight sixes and six fours.

Ragel Noel also contributed 48 as Grenada looked set for an even bigger total after racing to 156-1.

However, Royal Knights clawed their way back into the contest through an outstanding bowling spell from Yohann Lezama, who ripped through the middle and lower order to finish with remarkable figures of 6-33 from four overs.

Royal Knights then made light work of the chase, storming to 211-4 in just 16.5 overs to secure the title. Keion De Jesus led the assault with a breathtaking 87 from 42 balls, smashing seven sixes and six fours at a strike rate above 207.

He received solid support from Loy Squires, who hammered 44 from 23 deliveries, while Kazim Haywood remained unbeaten on 44 to guide the innings home comfortably.

Lezama’s brilliant all-round contribution earned him the Man of the Match award as Royal Knights capped off a dominant tournament campaign with the championship trophy.

In the third-place playoff, Vikings CC chased down the 225-run target to defeat the once-dominant Cavaliers CC by three wickets in another explosive encounter.

Cavaliers posted 224-2 from their 20 overs thanks to an unbeaten 90 from Vishal Bharat and 52 not out from Dhanpaul Chrisnanand.

Vikings responded aggressively with Timothy Sookram smashing 85 from 35 balls, while Julian Bannet added a rapid 39 from just 13 deliveries.

Late fireworks from Johnnny Bailey, who blasted four sixes in an unbeaten 26 off eight balls, carried Vikings to 229-7 in only 14.5 overs to seal third place in dramatic fashion.
