Team BVI swimmers Kyla Potter and Lily Carey delivered four personal-best performances on Day Two of the 2026 PanAm Aquatics Swimming Championships in Ibagué, Colombia.
Competing in the Girls’ 13–15 age group, both swimmers opened their day in the 50-metre backstroke before returning shortly afterwards for the 200-metre freestyle.
Potter completed the 50-metre backstroke in 36.35 seconds, improving her entry time by 2.72 seconds. Carey also produced a strong swim, touching the wall in 40.37 seconds to lower her previous best by 3.26 seconds.
Despite the short recovery period between events, the BVI swimmers maintained their focus and returned to deliver further improvements in the 200-metre freestyle.
Potter clocked 2:40.24, taking an impressive 10.48 seconds off her entry time, while Carey finished in 2:43.08, improving her previous best by 5.46 seconds.
Coach Rebecca Nockolds praised the swimmers for their preparation and ability to perform consistently under demanding conditions.
“Overall, it was a very successful day for Team BVI, with both athletes achieving great time improvements in both events,” Nockolds said. “Their ability to perform consistently despite the demands of the back-to-back races shows their preparation and determination throughout the meet.”
The championships continue in Ibagué through July 12.
